Minority Rights

Overview:

Pakistan faces a deep-seated problem of sectarian violence that is detrimental to its existing political system and national economy. Religious extremism in Pakistan has increased significantly in recent years, posing a serious threat to liberal forces working to restore peace in the region. Additionally, Pakistan is notorious for its abuses of minority groups, including attacks on Christian, Hindu, Ahmadiyya, Shia, Sufi and Sikh communities.

Bunyad used an action research tool called Photovoice to roll out to Rahim Yar Khan district. The above project at Rahim Yar Khan was done in 2014-2015. In addition, the program documented district issues related to minority rights and sought to address underlying community issues through the implementation of small social action projects. Bunyad involved 70,000 people (65% female, 35% male) in this process.

Geographic Coverage:

This project has been implemented in district Rahim Yar Khan of the Punjab province.
