Artist, educator and former Principal of the National College of Arts, Lahore.

  • Artist, educator, writer, curator and human rights activist, and a member of the Women’s Action Forum.
  • Founded the Printmaking specialisation at the National College of Arts and served as its Principal until 2010. She is a Fellow of the College.
  • Studied at Kinnaird College and the National College of Arts, with postgraduate work at the Slade School of Fine Art and the Institute of Education, University of London.
  • Awarded Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French government.
  • Co-chair of the Lahore Biennale Foundation.
Shaheen Atiq-ur-Rehman

Shaheen Atiq-ur-Rehman

Has led Bunyad since 1994, building its literacy, education and women’s empowerment programmes across rural Punjab.

  • Supervised Bunyad’s UNESCO-supported mobile literacy programme for rural women.
  • Received the UNESCO Comenius Medal (1998) and the Presidential Award Aizaz-e-Fazilat.
  • Holds an MA in Administrative Sciences and an LLB from the University of the Punjab.
